Nicole Kidman Receives Backlash Over Supportive Trump Comments
Nicole Kidman faced a wave of backlash after comments she made about remaining complacent in Donald Trump's impending presidency.
"[Trump is] now elected and we, as a country, need to support whoever is the president," Kidman told the BBC, adding, "That is what the country is based on. And however that happened, he’s there, and let’s go."
Many on Twitter felt that Kidman, who simultaneously expressed her "commitment to women's issues" in the same interview, was being hypocritical and tone-deaf in asking others to support someone who has employed misogynistic, xenophobic and racist rhetoric in his campaign.

Since making the comments on BBC, Kidman tried to clarify what she meant, telling Access Hollywood that she was simply "trying to stress that I believe in democracy, and the American constitution."
