Reesha and I were talking about embarrassing work stories. Did I tell you the time I applauded an opening prayer?

Here's what happened.

I was a radio DJ in East Idaho and was attending a meeting on their state fair. I arrived a little late, but not too bad. When I got there the head of their state fair board was already speaking. He would introduce other members of the board to discuss fair matters and they would receive a polite applause.

During this time, they were cooking homecooked food in the other room for our lunch. The smell of fresh food in the air and the common rumblings were getting louder and louder making it hard to hear what the speakers were saying.

Near the end, just before lunch, they announced another member to come up. I couldn't quite hear what they said - I figured he was from 4-H or something. When they announced him to the stand, I applauded and yelled out a little "Yeah!" That's when I realized nobody else was applauding and got a few awkward looks from the people at the meeting.

When the guy made it to the stand, he looked at me, gave me a polite chuckle, then folded his arms and bowed his head. "Dear Heavenly Father..."

What I didn't hear was he was going to go up to offer a prayer before lunch.

That's right. I applauded the opening prayer.
