According to Tyga, his former relationship with Kylie Jenner ultimately caused his career in music to suffer — despite the, you know, daily global publicity and invites to high profile events such as the Met Ball.

The rapper appeared on Big Boy's radio show, Big Boy's Neighborhood, where he discussed his romance with the Kardashians star and makeup mogul, telling the host that while he dated Jenner, his talents became "overshadowed" by their status as a couple.

"When you're in a very public relationship like that, it's hard for other people to see you differently than that, you know what I mean?" Tyga revealed. "And being in that, it just took a lot from me, you know, career-wise. It overshadowed a lot of my talent, and a lot of things that I worked hard for."

Tyga also shared that as it stands now, the two remain on good terms, emphasizing that their breakup was a mutual decision.

"I think it just got to the point where it was like, you know, 'I respect you, you respect me,' and you know... maybe later on in life, maybe we might come back, you know what I'm saying? But right now I want to focus on what I want to do."

He also seemed to place some of the blame for their split on Jenner's age — a point of controversy for the couple early in their relationship — by adding, "And I think for her, as well... she's young. And when you're young, you're going to make mistakes and kind of all of those mistakes are going to be in the public eye, so it puts a lot of strain on that relationship, you know what I mean?"

While on air, the "Rack City" rapper also set the record straight on his rumored fling with model Demi Rose, saying, "I'm single. I'm enjoying life."
