Father's Day is this Sunday and it's worthy to consider the quote widely attributed to actor Denzel Washington.

Without Dads It's A Disaster

According to the Patriot Post which collected the latest data on the importance of fathers:

  • 90% of all homeless and runaways come from fatherless homes
  • 85% of all fatherless children exhibit behavioral disorders
  • 85% of youth in prison come from fatherless homes
  • 75% of adolescents being treated for drug abuse are from fatherless homes
  • 75% of adolescent patients in substance abuse centers don't have involved dads
  • 75% of rapists motivated by misplaced anger don't have a dad while growing up
  • 71% of all high school dropouts don't have a dad
  • 70% of juveniles in state-regulated institutions come from fatherless homes
  • 63% of youth who commit suicide do not have a father in the home
  • 57% of the fatherless homes are black households, 31% are Hispanic, and 20% are white.

With Father’s Day approaching, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released the list of the  2022’s Best & Worst States for Working Dads .

What States Are Best For Working Dads

23 key indicators of State-supported "friendliness toward working dads" were given the WalletHub once over including the average length of the work day for males, to child-care costs, to the share of men in good or better health.

So how did we do here in the Pacific Northwest?  Washington Dads don't have it too bad.  The Evergreen State comes in at number15 and significantly better than our sister states.  Oregon is on the low side of midway with a score of 31 and Dads don't get enough respect in Idaho which ranks 45 in the Best States for Working Dads.
