The good folks at I Heart Yakima, an advocacy group, have teamed-up with a local brewery, vintner and cidery to establish a fundraiser to help support workers in the food and beverage as well as hospitality industries here in the valley.
Calling it "We Are Yakima", the mission is to provide some relief of the financial burden that business owners and their employees are enduring with the statewide stay-at-home order in place since March 23rd.

The funds will be raised through multiple avenues and subsequently doled out in the form of grocery store gift cards for those deemed most in need of assistance. From their webpage, "Donations will come from individuals, local businesses, and sales of Bale Breaker Brewing’s “You Are Not Alone” beer."

Along with Bale Breaker, Gilbert Cellars will be offering up their "We Are Yakima" unoaked chardonnay wine and Tieton Cider Works will chip in with six boxes (6-pack, 12 oz. cans) of their Lavender Honey cider for the price of four.

Because it is a referral-based, if you are in need of assistance, they ask that you have a coworker, manager, or friend refer you using the form on their website. Anyone that has lost their job or significant hours within the restaurant and hospitality industry is free to be referred.

If you are an individual compelled to donate to the fund, I Heart Yakima is asking that you donate the monies that you'd regularly be spending by going out "in exchange for all the feels".

If If you are a business and you’d like to participate in the 'We Are Yakima' fund,  they ask that you email them at donate@iheartyakima.com.
