On this day in history.  November 22, 1963.  This is the day against which all other "where were you when" days are compared.   November 22, 1963  President John F Kennedy was fatally shot while riding in a motorcade in Dallas. He was 46. Police apprehended suspect Lee Harvey Oswald, but he was killed two days later while in police custody by Jack Ruby.

A Turbulent Time In History

JFK, Camelot, Jackie-(not yet "O"), the Space Race, the Cuban Missle Crises & Showdown with the Soviet Union, the WWII Military Heroism, the rumored number of  Ladies, the Brothers, the Mob, Marilyn Monroe, etc etc, etc.   There was a lot going on in the time of the Democrat who in his inaugural address in 1961 said,

"Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country".

Kennedy Gunned Down On This Day in 1963

Less than three years later, the 35 President of the United States was as from an assassin's bullet,,, . "As their vehicle passed the Texas School Book Depository Building at 12:30 p.m., Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly fired three shots from the sixth floor, fatally wounding President Kennedy and seriously injuring Governor Connally. Kennedy was pronounced dead 30 minutes later at Dallas’ Parkland Hospital. He was 46."

The History Channel explains that the official Warren Commission report of 1964 concluded that neither Oswald nor Ruby were part of a larger conspiracy, either domestic or international, to assassinate President Kennedy. The report failed to silence conspiracy theories and in 1978 the House Select Committee on Assassinations concluded in a preliminary report that Kennedy was “probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy” that may have involved multiple shooters and organized crime.
