It was a cold day in March 2002 when my U-Haul first rolled in to the city of Yakima. My father, Herschel, and I rode into town just after 10pm, and my new boss, Billy Brown, had asked me to meet him at the Walmart. Thus, my new adventure in the crazy world of the Pacific Northwest began.

If there was one piece of advice I wish someone had given me before I moved to Yakima, it would be that I should save up money to buy a car built for driving over the snowy mountain passes. That's the one thing that to this day I still get irate about--fearing that my car won't make it during the dreary snow season. I should have saved up my money to buy a better car!

What is the one piece of advice you'd give to someone moving to Yakima?
