Who died in a Wednesday shooting in Yakima? Police ID The Victim
Yakima Police, investigating the murder of a 71-year-old man who was shot in front of his home in the 1000 block of South 8th Street on Wednesday have identified the victim as Gerald Moore of Yakima.
Police say Gerald Moore was shot by someone who knew him
Capt. Jay Seely says they believe Moore was the target of the shooting that left him with multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach. He died the in driveway of his home on Wednesday night. There's no word from authorities on what lead to the shooting or if Moore was involved in any illegal activity.
Detectives from the Yakima Police Department Major Crimes Unit are now searching for security video from the neighborhood to identify the shooter. Police say the suspect pulled into Moore's driveway and Moore walked out of his home to talk to the person. That's where Moore was shot dead.
Detectives are searching for a suspect driving a car colored car
The suspect driving a dark colored vehicle fled the area after the shooting. Police arrived moments later after getting calls about multiple shots fired in the area. Officers on the scene found Moore in his driveway. They tried to save him with help from medics but Moore died in the driveway in front of his Yakima home.
Police know someone knows something about the crime and they're hoping for tips to make an arrest.
