Yakima's WinCo Foods is slated to open April 12. I'm a big fan of WinCo as we had one when I lived in Tri-Cities. If you're not familiar with WinCo, here's what you can expect.

The best example I can give is about like Walmart but without the chance of walking out accidentally buying a new TV.

The store is big. Like, really big, inside and out. Tons of food on shelves and they also have other supermarket isle selections like cold medicine, soap - stuff like that.

I remember I was a big fan of their meat section as they had lots of options and portion sizes to choose from.

I'm not sure about Yakima's location, but every WinCo Foods I've ever been to has a cashier, but you bag your groceries yourself. If you shop at Fiesta Foods, you may be familiar with this concept. That's something that may turn some people off but it doesn't bother me at all.

Also, in case you're wondering, there's no membership fees or anything. Just walk right in.

I'm looking forward to this store and hopefully it does so well they open a second location in West Valley because, well, that's closer to where I live. We can dream.
