Yakima Police Searching For Suspect Who Stole Guns
A lot of stolen guns are now on the streets of Yakima. The guns were stolen during a burglary at the State Department of Fish and Wildlife offices in the 1700 block of South 24th Avenue.
The burglary was reported last weekend at Fish and Wildlife offices
Yakima Police say the burglary was reported on Sunday, January 2.
Capt. Jay Seely says the suspect cut a hole in the side of the building. Once inside the suspect stole 15 to 20 firearms. During an investigation by the Yakima Police Department's Forensics Unit forensic personnel were able to develop a suspect through a palm print left at the scene.
Police say they know the suspect and hope to make an arrest soon
Seely says the suspect has "been involved in several additional burglaries and theft incidents throughout the Yakima Valley within the last year."
Police are searching for the suspect today and the stolen firearms.
“I am extremely proud of our Forensic and Property Crimes Unit personnel. The evidence they were able to gather during a snow storm, linking this suspect to the burglary, is simply amazing,” Captain Jay Seely said.
