Yakima Schools Will Call Transgender Students by Any Name

With schools back in session there was a delicate topic arose not too long ago: What if a student wishes to be called a different name of the opposite sex? For example, my name is John, but I might wish to be called Joan if I identified myself as a female. The school would honor this, but if my parents were to ask the Yakima Schools about it, the district is asking staff members to, as one teacher puts it, "engage in active deception towards parents."

This is also not the first time I've heard about this story today. Not sure if it's just the Yakima School District or a statewide issue.
