I had no idea the Yakima Bindery has been open for 115 years. I always assumed it would be open for another 115 years. But times are changing, and as minimum wages rise, local businesses are having to make tough decisions.

"The era of the full-service downtown store is clearly drawing to a close," Tuesley said. "We've had a wonderful time with our many loyal customers over the years, but too many people have taken their business to the internet or big-box stores. With the looming increase of the minimum wage to $13.50 per hour, the handwriting was on the wall."

Grab all the crafters, note givers and takers because I bet the best supplies will be swept up fast. So sad to see the doors closing. Wishing you loads of luck in the future.
