A popular chili cook-off is back this month that helps fund Yakima Valley Pet Rescue and Adoption Center. The YVPR Chili Cook-Off event is set for October 15, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Modern Living Building at Yakima's State Fair Park. Tickets are available now at yvpr.org. If you attend you'll get all you can eat chili, cornbread, nachos, hot dogs and dessert. Plus you'll have a chance to name a winner in the chili cook-off by judging the best recipe.

A press release says the event "also includes a beer and wine bar, silent and live auctions, and Live music from DieBruder" The event is one of the most important fundraisers of the year that helps Yakima Valley Pet Rescue provide a second chance to homeless and neglected animals. YVPR officials say the annual budget is built through donations and contributions from local businesses and the community so the Chili Cook-Off is vital to saving more animals in Yakima.

YVPR not only saves animals through adoption but also funds procedures

While you're at the event you can donate because the Yakima Valley Pet Rescue and Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization "operated by volunteers dedicated to rescuing and relocating homeless and neglected pets in Yakima County and its surrounding areas. Along with rescuing animals and finding them loving homes, our purpose is to help fund medical procedures, spay/neuter procedures and provide vaccinations to animals in our care. Last year we helped 1,428 animals through our rescue and adoption programs. Yakima Valley Pet Rescue is proud to be a No-Kill animal rescue organization widely respected throughout the valley. In addition to our rescue and adoption programs we also provide public education regarding responsible pet ownership and reducing animal over population."
