A new drive-thru COVID-19 testing site opens in Yakima Tuesday. The drive-thru testing is available for high-risk Yakima County residents with symptoms of the novel COVID-19 disease, including those who work in healthcare, public safety or critical infrastructure. A news release from the district says testing is by appointment only.
The drive-thru testing site is located in the large parking lot on the north side of the Yakima Valley SunDome. The news release says vehicles enter Gate 15 off Pacific Avenue. People are asked to stay in their cars and arrive 15 minutes before an appointment.
Appointments will be opened each day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. April 7 through April 10 in 15-mintue increments. The Health District initially expects to test up to 250 people each day.
The community based drive-thru testing site is being coordinated by the Yakima Health District, Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management, Washington State National Guard, and Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences.
Only those that meet the criteria below will be eligible to register for testing appointment:

· Experiencing symptoms (cough, fever of at least 100.4, sore throat and/or shortness of breath)

AND

· Working in healthcare, public safety, or critical infrastructure like grocery stores, restaurants, shelters, gas stations, public utilities, child care, or correctional facilities OR

· 60 years of age or older OR

· Someone with underlying medical conditions or a weakened immune system OR

· Currently pregnant.
