Davis High Students Host Free Student Art Exhibit for 2 More Days: Community Is Invited
2 Days Left: Come See the Davis High Student Art Exhibit in the KIVA
In case you haven't heard, there is a big student art exhibit going at Davis High School for public view until May 27th and 28th. I know that the students and their four art advisors would love to see you come support the exhibit as well!
Let's show our support and show up for these students who have worked hard to produce amazing works of art. Encouraging our Yakima Valley kids to support the arts is something that I feel passionate about, and I know there are so many of us here in the community who feel the same way.
One Davis High Student Has Already Won a Prestigious Congressional Art Award
Davis High student Ruby Meza won the Congressional Art Award for Washington State and her art piece will be displayed in the other Washington (District of Columbia) at the U.S. Capitol.
Winners for this prestigious Congressional award are selected by their respective congressional district House members. Last year, Jackeline Arellano andIvette Valencia Montes, another student from Davis, were selected by Representative Dan Newhouse for her pieces, Whispers of the Cascades and Dew Drops of Life, respectively.
Rubi is very talented and we'll be able to get a peek at some of her art while at the Student Art Exhibit.
The exhibit features Davis High student art from:
- Mrs. Huls' 2-D Painting and Drawing class
- Mr. DiGregorio's Graphic Art class
- Mrs. Halfmoon's 3-D Art class
- Mr. Rist's Photography class
Viewing hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the KIVA and is open to all students, faculty, and the community at-large. All visitors must check in with the receptionist at 212 S 6th Ave in Yakima.
