Did You Give? 2021 Toys for Tots Program a Big Success
Every holiday season the Yakima Salvation Army helps thousands of needy families in the Yakima Valley through it's food bank and the Toys For Tots Program.
Salvation Army officials say they distributed more than 10,000 toys
Lisa Sargent Community Relations & Outreach Program Manager at the Salvation Army says thank you to the many people who contributed toys and cash to the program in 2021. She says they distributed 10,300 toys to 3,458 kids in the program this past Christmas season. Sargent says that's a lot of toys and other items including gift cards that helped brighten up the holidays for local children.
The Red Kettle Program also saw a lot of donations
People not only gave to the Toys for Tots Program but also donated to the Red Kettle Campaign. Sargent says they raised a total of $108,398 down from the $117,700 collected in 2020. All the money collected stayed in Yakima to help the Salvation Army help others.
If you still have Toys for Tots boxes at your place of business and they still have toys in them call the Salvation Army at 509-823-1819 and the Salvation Army will pick up the toys. Businesses can also store the boxes and use them next Christmas season.
