The Best Filipino Food Is Found In Wapato, Not Anywhere Else
I am a foodie. I live for food, I love for food. The way to woo me is to take me to a restaurant.
Lately, I have been craving some authentic, delicious foods, like Filipino food for instance. In case you didn't know, every Thursday, Filipino Hall serves the best Filipino food in the Pacific Northwest. Of course, this is totally my own opinion, but I am usually right when it comes to great food. Check out Filipino Hall's Take-Out Menu here. (The menu may be slightly different because of COVID-19 menu adjustments.)
My first taste of homemade Filipino food was some knock-your-socks-off chicken adobo with a side of lumpia. My friend Monica C. "put her foot in it", as my kinfolk back in Tennessee would say. Basically, that means, her food was so good, I fell in love with it at the first bite.
My daughter, Willow, loves to have Taco Tuesdays and "Pick What You Want To Eat Fridays". We now have a new tradition: Filipino Food Thursdays.
My great friend, Precy, has been trying to get me to get out there to the Hall for months. Another friend of mine, Dori, who helped coordinate some Yakima peeps for AAPI Democracy Day 2020 in September, invited me to celebrate a meal on Thursday over at Filipino Hall (211 West 2nd Street, Wapato). I admit, every Thursday there seems to be some urgent reason why I can't hop in the car and drive the 20-minute drive to scoop up some to-go Filipino food. It just so happens that this week, I have cleared my schedule to go, so they had better be ready for starving lil' me--the lady Alton Brown once referred to as "one of the weirdest people" he had ever met! I'll take that as a compliment, thank you very much.
Here are the five best Filipino Foods you can either make yourself at home or order takeout from Bobaloompia in the Broadway Square Mall. My list includes such classic Filipino food hits including Lumpia, Banana Turon, Pancit, Pork or Chicken Adobo, and Afritada.
