As the signatures on the #Free21 Savage petition continue to pile up, 21 Savage is also getting support from Georgia representative Henry C. "Hank" Johnson of Georgia's fourth district.

On Tuesday (Feb. 5), the congressman tweeted out a 21 Savage endorsement letter to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in support of 21, who is currently detained after ICE arrested him and accused him of being illegal immigrant. In his missive, Johnson called 21, whose real name is She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, a “remarkable young man” who “spends his time giving back to our community and has been living a life of paying it forward.”

In his letter, Johnson mentioned that he attended the rapper's annual back-to-school supply drive event last August and called it "a win for the community." He also says that he believes keeping 21 detained would bring serious “hardship to his family and a loss for our community.” The congressman is asking for the rapper to be released on bond while his immigration proceedings are pending.

“I firmly believe that [21] is an appropriate candidate for release on a reasonable recognizance bond,” he wrote. “He spends his time giving back to the community and supporting and promoting the betterment of our youth. He has been an outstanding figure and influence within his family and within Atlanta."

This news comes as 21's co-manager Justin “Meezy” Williams gave an update on the rapper's current condition.

"Just got off phone wit Savage ... he is in lockdown for 23hrs of the day no tv or any communication besides our 10 min phone calls," he tweeted on Tuesday morning (Feb. 5). "Everything I’ve told him that has been happening made him happy & makes this time fly by thank y’all for the support."
