Often, when you shop at Goodwill they ask if you'd like to round up to help support job training. When asked, I always approve. All of that spare change is adding up as Goodwill thrift sales are going to help fund 62 scholarships in computing in Yakima as well as in Longview and Tacoma.

These are 10-week courses where you will learn website upkeep, troubleshooting with computers and more. There's even college-level Word and Excel programs that you'll learn. If you're interested in getting into IT, this is a great first step into that area.

To get signed up, you must be 18 or older, have a diploma or GED. There are only 16 seats available in Yakima for June 12 and July 17 programs. If you're interested, contact Trisha McCray -- trisham@goodwillwa.org -- or call 509-452-6061.

Orientation and assessments will be at Yakima Work Opportunity Center, 10 N. 10th Ave. in Yakima.
