Many of our students in Yakima can eat breakfast and lunch at school, but that's about it. The Yakima Backpack Program provides these students with food they can save for the weekends and through holidays.

Their shelves are getting very low, though. Here's how you can help.

They're having a food drive this Saturday (Jan. 31) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the West Valley Walmart. They're looking for the usual non-perishable food items like cereal, oatmeal, crackers, canned goods and so on. Cash donations will also be accepted.

If you can't make it to the food drive this Saturday, the Yakima Backpack Program's website has more ways you can help as well. You can even help provide meals to a student for a full year!

For more info on the Yakima Backpack Program, check out their website and LIKE them on Facebook.
