Hey Yakima Drivers Stay in Your Lane!

If you drive a vehicle you know there are laws you need to obey to avoid being ticketed and to avoid a crash. That's what local authorities are hoping to prevent through a friendly reminder about a law for drivers in the state.

Police say many drivers don't stay in their lane

In fact the Washington State Patrol and Deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office tweeted out a friendly reminder for drivers this week. In the tweet they tell drivers when making right or left turns drivers are required by law to turn into the closest lane available.
That's what the law says but local authorities say a large number of drivers in Yakima break the law everyday.

The problem is that some drivers swing wide and cause a crash

Officers and Washington State Troopers say the problem is that some drivers swing wide and drive into and outside lane and that sometimes results in a crash.
Officers say drivers can be cited for not obeying the law and causing a crash by not staying in an assigned lane. They say the same rule of staying in your lane applies to driving through roundabouts in areas of the county.
The Washington State Patrol and Yakima County Sheriff's Office thinks it's such a problem that the agencies recently tweeted out the advice to drivers.
