K-9 Officers are busy in the Yakima valley everyday keeping people safe and catching bad guys. But did you know Yakima County depends upon private donations to fund local K9 programs. That's why authorities say your participation in an upcoming fundraiser is so important.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND GET READY TO HAVE SOME FUN

It's called the Dunk the Deputy & Bite the Brewer and it's coming up on Saturday September 2 at 12:00 pm. at Cowiche Creek Brewing Company. https://www.cowichecreekbrewing.com/
The free event will feature officer demonstrations, police vehicle photo ops, raffle prizes and of course: dunking and biting plus live music. All the money raised goes to K-9 programs in Yakima through Yakima's K9 Foundation Yakima Valley https://k9foundationyv.org/.

LOTS OF WAYS TO HAVE FUN AND HELP AT THE SAME TIME

You can be involved in a number of things to have fun and raise money at the event;

Bite the Brewer: For every $1000 in donations, the breweries' very own Derrick Nordberg will be taken down by one of the K9s. As long as people keep donating the K9's will keep biting.  $1 from every pint sold will be donated to the K9 Foundation Yakima Valley.  The K9 Foundation Yakima Valley will have raffle prizes, swag bags, gift baskets and merchandise available for purchase.

K9 OFFICERS PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN HELPING TO KEEP THE VALLEY SAFE

The K9's are a vital part of the Yakima County Sheriff's Office and the Yakima Police Department. Money from the fundraiser goes to K9 Foundation Yakima Valley. It was started in February of 2021 to support Yakima County law enforcement agencies K-9 programs.

PRIVATE DONATIONS SUPPORT LOCAL K9 PROGRAMS

The founder of the K9 Foundation Yakima Valley, Fern Hart says she started the foundation after learning that unlike many other law enforcement agencies around the country, Yakima County depends upon private donations to fund local K9 programs.
You can help the foundation by donating to the foundation or purchasing plush K9 puppies at The Range, at 1701 Garretson Lane and Earthwise Pet Nutrition Center at 6530 West Nob Hill.
