Many communities in the state are celebrating pride month in June and Yakima is joining in the celebration. The annual Yakima Pride Festival and Parade is planned for Saturday, June 10 in Downtown Yakima.

YOU'LL FIND ROAD CLOSURES IN DOWNTOWN YAKIMA ON SATURDAY

As a result of the parade you'll see road closures downtown. Yakima city officials say Naches Avenue will be closed between Yakima Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard during the festival. The festival is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am and continue through 6:00 pm on June 10. In addition, Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way will be closed from Naches Avenue to 6th Street during the festival.

ALONG WITH THE FESTIVAL YOU'RE INVITED TO THE PRIDE PARADE

A parade is also planned Saturday morning. During the parade, Yakima Avenue will be closed from 16th Avenue to Naches Avenue. The parade starts at 10:00 am Saturday and is expected to last about one hour.

THOUSANDS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND THE FESTIVAL AND PARADE

Festival organizers anticipate approximately 6,500 participants and 3,000 spectators.
It is estimated 25 to 30 vehicles will participate in the parade. City officials support Pride Month in Yakima. During the June 6th regular meeting, the Yakima City Council proclaimed June 2023 Pride Month in the city of Yakima. Yakima joins many other cities in recognizing Pride month including the cities of Ellensburg and Wenatchee which recently celebrated with community events and parades. Yakima Police will be at the festival and will be conducting traffic patrols during the parade. They ask drivers to avoid areas in downtown Yakima during the hour of the parade.
