Zillah Community Days is underway Friday and Saturday in downtown Zillah.

The event is kicks off today, May 10th, with vendors and a carnival in Stewart Park along with the Miss Zillah crowning set for 6:00 pm this evening.

On Saturday, May 11th, the day starts with the annual Zillah 5K for the Fallen to honor fallen soldiers from the Yakima Valley and Yakama Nation.

The walk/run is part of a living tribute to the more than 65,000 American soldiers killed in service to our country since the start of the Vietnam War.

A press release from Zillah officials say the event will be held on the  recently completed Vintage Valley Parkway.

THE RUN/WALK STARTS AT 7:00 AM WITH REGISTRATION

The 5K run/walk starts near Zillah's flagpole and the Gold Star monument that was installed and unveiled in 2023. Parking is available in the parking lots of the Yakima Chief Ranches and Buhrmaster Baking Company.

THE MAYOR SAYS THEY'LL HONOR 15 SOLDIERS

"There are 15 soldiers from across our region who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and we will remember each of them by taking purposeful steps together as a community," says City Administrator Michael Grayum.

"We are excited to create this meaningful event to honor our fallen service members through active remembrance, which will take place along our recently completed Vintage Valley Parkway. The event is free and open to all ages and abilities, including runners, walkers, rollers, and strollers."

DON'T MISS THE PARADE ON SATURDAY MORNING AND FIREWORKS SATURDAY NIGHT

Community Days continues after the run with more fun in Stewart Park and a parade that starts at 11:00 am Saturday.

The beer garden opens at 4;00 pm with fireworks set for 9:00 pm Saturday night.

Visitors can park and gather in the parking lots of the Yakima Chief Ranches and Buhrmaster Baking Company.
