Yakima City Council Meets Monday to Talk About New City Manager
The Yakima City Council is now officially searching for a new Yakima City Manager after starting the process earlier last week.
CITY OFFICIALS HOPING SOMEONE FROM YAKIMA WILL APPLY
Council member Matt Brown says they're now working with the city human resources office to issue a job description. Then Brown says he looks forward to seeing some Yakima residents apply for the position. Brown says "I want someone who has buy in from Yakima to apply for the job."Brown says he and other council members have heard from some people in the community who may be interested in the position.
MONDAY'S MEETING IS AT CITY HALL
The city has scheduled a meeting for Monday 5:30 pm at Yakiama City Hall where the council will talk about hiring former Yakima Assistant City Manager Dave Zabell as the interim manager until a replacement can be found.
THE CITY HOPES TO SAVE YOUR MONEY IN THE SEARCH FOR A CITY MANAGER
Brown says the city is using a consulting firm to possibly hire Zabell but he says the city is determined to save taxpayer money and use the city human resources office to find candidates for the Yakima City Manager position. Brown says if the office can't find the number and quality of candidates they're looking for then the city may hire a consulting firm. City officials say they expect the search and hiring process will take 4 to 6 months.
