Fandom In The Seattle Air
The weekend of March 5th – March 8th 2026 was the weekend of excitement in Seattle, as Emerald City Comic Con had arrived.
Emerald City Comic Con or ECCC for short is a convention in celebration of comics and other geek/nerd fandoms. Vendors come to sale goods, artists and writers arrive to give autographs on their creations. Celebrity guests arrive to sign autographs and take selfies with fans.
This year, Artist Alley was the place to be. So many creators gathered to talk with fans and to sell their merch. Comic book artist and writers, novelists, game creators and everything in between was here to take part in the community.
Artist, Vendors, New Experiences
Connecting with organizations like Dark Horse Comics who made a return to ECCC this year. Meeting with Emerald City Romance Writers, a collective of PNW romance authors all sharing to help their community grow. Meeting with an artist like Jamie Tyndall who had on display some amazing art prints.
Finding myself lost with the art of a Chinese artist who came to the states a few short years ago, her name is YiLi Fang or professionally known as FangFang, creator of her self-published, self-written, and self-illustrated comic was a true pleasure in finding underground comics.
Getting to speak with Ben Mauro who has worked on multiple massive box office successful films as well as now bringing to life his own creator own story for the world to see. He brought his imagination to life both on page as well as on screen.
Everywhere you looked, there was something and someone to meet. That’s not just limited to the creators and celebrities. The Fans themselves seemed to all excitement to share in the joy of their passions. Walking around, getting to talk to people in the community you also share fandoms with, brought a positive vibe that can be seen as the heart of the convention itself.
The Honored Guests
Creators like Chris Claremont who is seen as the godfather of the X-Men comics was in attendance. Sci-Fi actors like Hayden Christensen (Star Wars) and William Shatner (Star Trek) were also there to bring excitement to the show.
Emotions In The Emerald City
ECCC is a massive draw for Seattle as many of the local business get in on the action by dressing up or selling themed products for the convention. The entire city itself becomes a mecca for all things geek. The city itself feels welcoming to the community.
Being in a space like ECCC can be overwhelming and feel overstimulating; however, it’s an emotion that, despite the withdrawal afterward, you welcome with all your heart, wanting the day to never end. We say Goodbye to ECCC for 2026, and now we prep for ECCC 2027.
