Sure, you can go to the "classy" bars in the Valley, but sometimes, you just want to eat in a joint where the food and drinks are cheap and the people are friendly AF, as the kids say.

Before I moved to Yakima, I didn't know a thing about spending time in a dive bar, but after I got invited to a secret lunch club called Dive Bar Fridays (DBF, for short), I was whisked into the wonderful world of boozin' it up like a local.

Even if you prefer non-alcoholic drinks, you can still enjoy this dive bar list. Each place serves food that's probably made by a chef who's been working back in the kitchen for ages--so you know the food's gonna be GOOD.

The people who frequent dive bars in the Valley are locals who have known each other for years, but don't let that stop you from going if you're new to the area or just turning 21. Just nod your head and say hi, and someone will probably chat you up (because we're pretty nosy about strangers).

Traveling up and down the Upper and Lower Yakima Valley highways and byways can be fun if you take a trip to one of these dive bars listed below. My favorites include Taqueria La Plazita in Zillah, The Dutch, McGuire's, and The Lotus Room in Yakima, and Old Town Pump Saloon in Union Gap. I'm sure you'll be able to name off your own personal favorite dive bar, too!
