Don’t you hate it when a recall hits a little TOO close to home? That’s what this one did for me. Every car my wife & I own is a Toyota. That’s not an endorsement; that’s just how the stars aligned, so when I heard about this latest recall, I paid attention.

Nearly 2 million Toyota RAV 4 SUVs are being recalled due to a battery issue! And when anything that can go wrong deals with a battery, you can imagine that there’s a big risk of fire that goes right along with it.

This particular recall deals with the 2013 to 2018 models of the RAV 4 SUVs. In a nutshell, there is an issue with the “hold-down clamp,” if it’s not secured tightly, the battery could move while the vehicle is being driven, risking a short and possible fire.

Toyota is currently working on a fix, and when one does arrive, dealerships will replace and remedy the problem for free.

This recall came on the heels of their last one dealing with parts falling off the vehicles while driving. A few days ago, over 750,000 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles were recalled due to mounting tabs and bumper issues.
