Historic P-51 Mustang Lands in Yakima for Aviation Day
Aviation Day is coming up at Fly YKM (the Yakima Airport) on Saturday, June 6th, and one of the big stars of the event just landed in Yakima, and we were fortunate enough to get a front row viewing of this iconic plane touching down!
Yakima Welcomes The P51 Mustang
We were fortunate enough to get a call from the FLY YKM on Monday, June 1st, a little after 3 pm, letting us know that it's almost here, the P51 Mustang!
I immediately got excited and channeled my inner 10-year-old, having flashbacks of Yakima's Air Fair from the 90s. Seeing these big flying toys up close is such a thrill!
We got to the airport, got checked in, and then I acted like Tattoo from Fantasy Island, "Hey boss, thee plane, thee plane!"
Info About The P51 Mustang Aircraft
The prototype for the P51 Mustang took its first flight on October 26th, 1940, and during its time in action, this single-seat fighter/bomber model served during World War II, the Korean War, and other conflicts according to Wikipedia.
