Locals Share the Best Things to Do in Yakima

If you were going to visit Yakima for just one day, where would you like to go? See the sights, visit a winery, relive history, shop, or grab a bite to eat? The choice varies from person to person, but when the residents were asked where to go and what to do in Yakima, there was quite an array of answers given.

Around 200 comments and suggestions (as of this writing) were given to this question.
You had the smart alecks giving the negative answers like: Back Home, Away, and Idaho. Some are even asking their own question as an answer: 'Why would anyone want to come to Yakima?'

We have so many great things in the valley, and so many beautiful sites to see, that it is kind of sad to read some of these answers. But, I take it in stride, and remember that negativity attracts negativity, and the old adage that people who are easily bored are boring people.

Looking through all of the answers to the question, three things seemed to pop up more than any others. A place to eat, a historical ride, and another, a nice, beautiful drive.

The place to eat was a staple in Yakima, and that’s Miner’s Drive-In, home of the Big Miner Burger for over 70 years.

And the beautiful drive is the scenic S. Canyon River Rd (State Route 821). The 25 mile stretch between Yakima and Ellensburg. Might not be the most ideal for Winter, but any other time of the year, it is beautiful and relaxing!
