Yakima’s Longest Road Might Surprise You
What is the longest road or street in Yakima? This thought occurred to me while I was driving, and I thought I’d scour some maps and see if I could figure it out. The answer was not as clear-cut as I thought it’d be. I have the answer (or at least my best guess) below.
The Trip That Inspired This Question.
I was checking out the new Salvation Army location on 4th Street and headed back to the radio station on 40th Avenue, heading west on Lincoln Ave.
As I was driving, I thought to myself, “Why don’t I take Lincoln more often? It’s a pretty straight shot with not many lights and not much traffic. This is kind of nice.”
Knowing that Lincoln isn’t the LONGEST street, it made me wonder which street or road in Yakima IS the longest. I looked at AI for the answer.
What Does Google Say About Yakima's Streets?
According to Google’s AI, it mainly spoke about the most significant streets, and the City of Yakima mentioned how Yakima manages nearly 400 miles of public streets. So I went to the map.
From what I can tell, the two longest streets without question are Nob Hill Blvd and Summitview Ave.
Which one is longer is based on splitting hairs over the names.
The 3 Longest Streets/Roads In Yakima Valley
Nob Hill Blvd is incredibly long, starting at South 80th Ave and going East past South 18th Street, crossing over I-82 and then turning into Highway 24 and going all the way to Othello over 50 miles.
Summitview Ave intersects with West Yakima Ave and then heads West past 96th Ave, eventually turning into Summitview Road before connecting to Tieton Rd roughly 15 miles.
If we want to look at a broader range in the Yakima Valley, Ahtanum Rd goes for 19 miles. From where it connects to Fork Rd and ends in Union Gap.
