Here Are 6 of the Wealthiest Women in California
In honor of Women’s History Month and celebrating it all over the Pacific Northwest, we are taking a look at the top 6 wealthiest women billionaires in California. The Golden State is home to some of the richest people in America. See how many names of these wealthy women you recognize.
1. Laurene Powell Jobs
Estimated Wealth: $12.6 Billion
She is a business lady all on her own, but when her husband, Steve Jobs, one of the wealthy geniuses behind Apple computers, passed away in 2011, Laurene inherited Steve’s stock shares in Disney and Apple, thus making her an instant billionaire. She has degrees from U Penn, Wharton, and Stanford and has previously worked for Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. Laurene reportedly lives in Malibu.
2. Marijke Mars
Estimated Wealth: $9.3 Billion
In the early 1900s, her father, Frank, created what has become the Mars Family candy and pet food empire. When he died, he left his wealth and inheritance to his three daughters, including philanthropist and business executive, Marijke, who reportedly owns a home in California (one of many including a superyacht). Just think, every time you eat a Twix, M&Ms, Snickers, Mars bar, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way candy bar, Uncle Ben’s rice, or a piece of Wrigley gum, you are doing Marijke a solid.
3. Edythe Broad
Estimated Wealth: $6.9 Billion
Edythe got her start making big money by collecting valuable art pieces in California. Her husband, Eli became wealthy with a company he started with Edythe’s cousin, so they had the funds to start purchasing the good stuff, like an original Van Gogh drawing. They opened an art museum in downtown L.A. in 2015. The Broad Family donate millions of dollars to various charities and philanthropic organizations, mostly centering around the arts.
4. Lynda Resnick
Estimated Wealth: $5.3 Billion
This woman is a powerhouse to be reckoned with. She started her career with her own ad agency when she was 19 and has been steamrolling through success ever since. She and her husband, Stewart, have donated hundreds of millions of dollars to various philanthropic efforts in several California communities. They own nut and fruit farms, a famous bottled water company, a luxury wine label, ad agency, and a host of other successful business ventures that have secured their family billions of dollars in wealth. They reportedly own a giant luxury Beverly Hills mansion. If you get an invite to one of their parties, you are definitely one of the “who’s who” and “what’s what.”
5. Dagmar Dolby
Estimated Wealth: $4.6 Billion
German-born Dagmar was married to her husband, Ray Dolby, in 1966. He ended up founding the Dolby Laboratories. Dolby Sound, of course, is that little quick commercial that starts before some movies to showcase the high quality sound system in their theater. (I am a Dolby snob because I can tell immediately when some theaters aren’t using Dolby during the movie!) Dagmar supported her husband for decades and inherited his wealth when he passed away in 2013. She owns a home in San Francisco where she continues her philanthropic activities and enjoys her billionaire lifestyle.
6. Lynsi Snyder
Estimated Wealth: $4.2 Billion Dollars
She is a badass Millennial powerhouse who happens to be the sole owner and president of the extremely popular In-N-Out Burger empire, the In-N-Out Foundation, and the In-N-Out company band. Her grandparents, Esther and Harry Snyder, opened up the very first In-N-Out burger joint in 1948. Some reports list her as the youngest billionaire in America. Lynsi allegedly lives in Glendora.
