Kanye West Says He Will Boycott the Grammys If Frank Ocean Doesn’t Get Nominated [VIDEO]
Another day, another Kanye West rant. During his Saint Pablo Tour stop in Oakland, Calif. on Saturday night (Oct. 22), the mercurial rapper-producer took a moment to salute his good friend Frank Ocean and send a message to the Grammy voting committee.
While performing “Wolves,” he stopped the music to talk about Lady Gaga and the Grammys and how unfair the voting can be when it comes to nominating artists. He then delivered a message to the Grammys.
“The album I listened to the most this year is Frank Ocean’s album,” he told the roaring crowd. “I’ll tell you this right now: If his album’s not nominated in no categories, I’m actually not showin’ up to the Grammys.”
“As artists, we have to come together to fight the bulls---,” he added. “All we need is a fair shot.”
While we love West's unwavering support for Frank, it looks like he didn't get the memo.
According to reports, neither albums by Frank - Endless and Blonde - was submitted for Grammy consideration by the singer's record labels, management team or other reps. Therefore, both projects will probably not receive any nominations.
Both albums were released well before the deadline, with Blonde, premiering at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Despite this disappointing news, we hope that Frank Ocean will get a chance to shine at the awards ceremony in February 2017.
West latest message follows his previous rant where he said a Watch the Throne 2 album will never happened because of the Tidal/Apple Music streaming wars. He then complained about Jay Z not calling him after his wife, Kim Kardashian, was robbed in Paris.
