It's been 16 years since Mara Wilson, the former child star best known for her roles in '90s family movies like Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda, starred in a feature film, 2000's Thomas and the Magic Railroad. Though she has since retired from acting to focus on her writing, once in a while she appears in the odd TV cameo, including on an episode of Broad City this year. And while it's not exactly a movie role, Wilson has made a brief return to her film acting roots in a short on Swapped, a new digital video series launched by comedian Dani Faith Leonard.

On Swapped, Leonard re-imagines and films famous movie scenes with an interesting catch: the roles are gender-swapped, placing emphasis on gender representation discrepancies in the movie industry. In the first episode, the filmmaker highlights the iconic business card scene from the dark comedy American Psycho, based on Bret Easton Ellis' novel of the same name.

In the clip, Wilson appears as Paula Allen, a feminized version of Paul Allen, played by Jared Leto in the original film. Leonard herself co-stars as sociopath Patricia Bateman, based off the film's psychotic main character Patrick, famously played by Christian Bale in the 2000 film. Watch below:

This week, Wilson was thrust back into the public spotlight after coming out as bisexual and queer on Twitter following the horrific shooting in Orlando.

Her debut autobiography, Where Am I Now? True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame, is due out September 13.
