Miley Cyrus Gets Emotional Honoring Janice Freeman During Her Memorial Service

On Monday (March 18), Miley Cyrus was one of many in attendance to celebrate the life of Janice Freeman. The Voice alum tragically passed away on March 2, at the young age of 33.

A visually emotional Miley spoke to crowd before introducing her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who performed a song because the pop star was too hurt to sing herself.

"Before we sing this song for Janice, I just want to clear up a rumor. I was never her coach, ever, she was always mine," she said, wiping away tears. "I've learned more from her than anyone that I've ever gotten the honor to be in the room with, not just vocally, I should've gotten more lessons than I did, but she taught me everything that I know about love."

"And, to be here, and I had planned on singing a song for her, but just losing her is just too much for me," Miley continued. "So my dad's gonna take care of this for me. But, I'll always be your sister, I'm here for you, and I'm here for your family, and Janice I'll miss you more than I could ever say. So, my dad is going to do this for me."

Billy Ray then led a soulful rendition of "Amazing Grace," which Miley contributed to later in the performance. Watch Janice's full service below, and look out for Miley's tribute around the 1:03:00 mark.

Janice was on Miley's team during the 13th season of The Voice. Her powerhouse vocals and uplifting spirit made her a fan-favorite. She was a strong woman who had battled she battled lupus, cervical cancer and meningitis. She passed away due to combined complications of lupus and a bronchial infection.
