Did you hear about the NASCAR driver (Bubba Wallace) who has been asking NASCAR to ban the Confederate Rebel flag? He's been busy uniting other NASCAR drivers to spreading the message behind the Black Lives Matter movement that has spread across the nation.

Well, pull up a seat and grab some popcorn, because I'm about to tell you some news that might knock your Rebel Flagged neighbor's boots off!

I'm telling you this now. Times are a-changing. What's that Sam Cook song say, "A change gone come..." It's coming alright, and it's long overdue.

NASCAR just announced they are banning those rebel confederate flags at the games! And the properties! But that's not all. NASCAR also said they will no longer make fans stand for the National Anthem. There's about to be a bunch of pissed off racing fans. But you know what? Them's the breaks, as the kids say!

I grew up in Nashville, TN, and the NASCAR games at the racing track in Bristol, TN, were always packed. One time, I got sent to Bristol as a "Sample Girl". I was hired by a talent agency to offer patrons free samples of some new tea that had just come out. I got to watch a little bit of the races, and I just remember there was a fun, exciting feeling in the air. Everyone was in a great mood and the weather was nice. I can see why people love attending NASCAR games.

NASCAR says they are opening up all races to the public very soon, in fact, the first re-opened race is this Sunday, June 14th (watch it on your local FOX TV channel). When you go to one of the live games, just remember to bring a great pair of earplugs for you and the kids, and you'll be just fine!

Here is the official statement about the confederate flag ban from NASCAR.com:

“The presence of the confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry. Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties.”

If you are ready to head on out to the Evergreen Speedway, the first public races begin June 27th (featuring Pro Late Models, Mini Stocks, Hornets, Legends, and Pro 4 Trucks). If you're anything like me and don't know a hill of beans about the Nascar race rules, watch this video below.
