He's running for re-election and now he has the backing of a lot of police and sheriffs' in the state. 4th District Congressman Dan Newhouse has announced the endorsement of the Washington Council of Police & Sheriffs. It's an important endorsement to anyone running for a congressional office. In fact the Washington Council of Police & Sheriffs is recognized as the largest, oldest, and most influential organization representing law enforcement professionals in Washington State.

The organization has backed Newhouse for years looks forward to working with him

“Washington State law enforcement needs leadership at the federal level that is steadfast during these challenging times,” says Kelsey Jewell, Events and Programs Director of WACOPS. “We look forward to working with you on a variety of public safety issues and value your effort towards building constructive community and police relations." A press release says as "an affiliate of the International Union of Police Associations, WACOPS is committed to protecting the rights and quality of life of law enforcement officers. Since its founding in 1962, WACOPS has grown to include over 100 member organizations and represents 60% of peace officers in Washington State."

Newhouse says he backs the blue and rejects calls to defund police

“I will always stand up for the men and women in uniform who bravely protect our communities, and I will continue to reject radical calls to defund the police,” says Congressman Newhouse. “We are seeing historic surges in crime and violence toward police officers, so it is more important than ever to increase funding for law enforcement and ensure they have all the tools they need to safely do their jobs. We owe a debt of gratitude to our law enforcement officers. I will always Back the Blue.”

Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
