'Do dogs dream and if they do, what do they dream about?  Cats? Fire hydrants? Scooby snacks?
Harvard Medical School, says it’s likely our pooches dream about their everyday experiences, just like humans do. This means there’s a good chance they dream about their owners.
Dr. Deirdre Barrett, a clinical and evolutionary psychologist at Harvard Medical School says:
Humans dream about the same things they’re interested in by day, though more visually and less logically. There’s no reason to think animals are any different. Since dogs are generally extremely attached to their human owners, it’s likely your dog is dreaming of your face, your smell, and of pleasing or annoying you.
I suspect my dogs dream about annoying me but the researchers say that you can hope to improve your dog’s dreams by providing happy daytime experiences and a safe and comfortable environment to rest in at night.
From time to time, humans experience nightmares...I had one just last night. (a never-ending, super stressful job interview)  So, what about dogs and nightmares?
"It is nought good a slepyng hound to wake"....that's Geoffrey Chaucer ...1380
'"let sleeping dogs lie"...that's  the American Kennel Club (AKC)...2022
The AKC suggests that family members, especially kids, not try to wake a dog who seems to be experiencing a nightmare because they could wake up on the wrong side of the dog bed in an aggressive manner. The organization says it's best to just be there in a loving and positive manner when the dog wakes up on its own.
