Student Social Powwow at Heritage University This Saturday; Prizes Offered for Best Dancers

Heritage University is hosting another fun student event this Saturday and it's open to everyone in the Yakima Valley.

All Nations Student Social Powwow

Not just a student social, this event hosted by the by the Heritage University Native American Club (HUNAC) will have drum groups, vendors and dancers, with a contest giving out prizes to the top 10 dancers in each category.

Dance categories will include traditional, fancy, jingle, and grass and will be sorted by age groups including:

• Tiny Tots: Ages 5 and under
• Juniors: Ages 6-12
• Fancy/Jingle: Ages 13-17
• Adults: Ages 18-54
• Golden: Ages 55 and up

Drummers will need to register on the day of the event.

While you're there, check out the newly installed tipi food, and arts & craft vendors on the campus. The event is family-friendly, too, with a special kids "Candy Dash" being held on the campus.

A community resource fair will also be on the premises, featuring Yakama Nation agencies, nonprofits, and student clubs from Heritage and other schools, according to the event flyer.

Other Events Coming to Heritage University

Another notable event coming to Heritage U is the Pre-Law Summit on Tuesday, April 21st in Petrie Hall (Room 1113). This session is for anyone interested in learning how to get a law degree, find resources, and get an overview of the legal career possibilities that Heritage University can offer.
