The 10 Commandments of Eating at Miner’s in Yakima
Miner's Drive-In is one of Yakima's most beloved restaurants, but there are a few things to keep in mind that will make everyone's lives a lot easier. Here are the 10 Commandments of eating at Miner's.
- 1
Thou Shalt Know What Thou Is Ordering
Don't walk up to the counter, then look at the menu. The menu is way too big to make a quick decision. Have your order in mind and order with confidence.
- 2
Thou Must Order Fries
This is coming from me, the guy who doesn't care for french fries, but if you're at Miner's, you gotta order fries. They're too good not to order.
- 3
Thou Must Share Said Fries
To make it easy, order a large fries. Trust me, there'll be plenty to go around.
- 4
Thou Must Praise the Burger's Size
It's why you bring out-of-towners to a place like Miner's. Their reaction is always priceless. Go ahead, Instagram it.
- 5
Thou Stalt Clean Up Thy Own Mess
A big Miner w/ Cheese can get a little messy. Make sure you clean up after yourself before you leave.
- 6
Thou Shalt Bring Quarters
Miner's has a few arcade games to play in the lobby. Why not play some video games while you wait for your order.
- 7
Thou Shalt Order the Marshmallow Shake
There are a lot of milkshake options at Miner's. They do have one of my favorite milkshakes in town -- especially the marshmallow one. It's a must whenever I visit.
- 8
Thou Shalt Know Thyne History
When you walk in, look to your left and you'll see a lot of articles and clippings from the rich history of Miner's Drive-In. It's cool to know its history and you'll see why they've been in business for so long.
- 9
Thou Must Order Un-Edited
If you want the full experience, grab a Big Miner w/ Cheese and take it as-is for the full 'you're entire meal under a bun' experience.
- 10
Thou Must Bring Tourists
Miner's Drive-In is a prime spot for tourists. I know many who live near here, but never grew up in Yakima who know all about Miner's as that's where they'd go in high school when they were in town for sports competitions. Fun stuff! Definitely worth a stop.
