I don't feel comfortable donating money to organizations during national disasters. It calls to mind how $500 million in funds were either misspent or never arrived to victims in Haiti. I remember everybody and their mamma was sending $10 here and there to the usual disaster fund organizations. I was boiling mad about that. Performer Wyclef Jean even got caught in the fray of the Haiti relief funds.

Meanwhile, I'm feeling kind of helpless over here wishing I could do at least something to help out the hurricane and flooding victims in Texas. I shared a post of the friend of a friend who took to Facebook to ask for help. (Thankfully, that family has since been rescued!)

What can we do all the way over here in Yakima, especially if we just want to donate supplies, such as diapers?

Someone on my Facebook page mentioned that there is a charity organization in Texas that is helping to provide diapers to the shelters, since most people aren't thinking about that necessary item families out there definitely are needing.

You can donate to them directly here at the Texas Diaper Bank.

Other natural disaster relief organizations:

American Red Cross: Text HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10

United Way Flood Relief: Text UWFLOOD to 41444 to donate cash

Salvation Army: Donate online or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY
