A New Year is bringing a new minimum wage for Washington state. The new hourly wage will take effect on Jan. 1.

The new hourly wage will be $12 -- up from $11.50. The wage will rise to $13.50 by 2020.

The increases are all a part of 2016's Initiative 1433.

January 2019 also brings about sick pay for part-time employees who earn one hour for every 40 hours worked.

The wage increases include agriculture jobs as well and workers between 14 and 15 will earn 85 percent of the minimum wage, according to the Department of Labor
