Drake has been making ‘Headlines’ since kicking off his music career just a few short years ago. However, before he was a rap star, he was just Jimmy Brooks on ‘Degrassi,’ and soon, he’ll return to his acting roots.

VH1 caught up with the Young Money superstar to chat about where his career is headed, but paid special attention to his acting goals. Drake spilled that he’s indeed headed down that path again, but that he’s just waiting for the right opportunity to pop up.

“I’ve been reading scripts for a while,” he said. “I want to do something great. I really want to do a movie specifically for my culture: the younger people who are still in tune with everything going on. I’m actually writing with my friends right now, [Maz Elsadig and Al Mukadam]. They have a production company called By Any Means Necessary, so we’re writing together trying to figure out the right movie.”

The right movie, however, would not be one he’s been pigeonholed into. That means he doesn’t want to play a rapper — or a basketball star — or a kid in a wheelchair either. Drake explained that he wants to step outside of his usual boundaries to test his talents, stressing that he’s looking for, “Something that’s not a rapper or a basketball player, which is all the scripts that I get.”

You hear that, Hollywood? Get writing!
