Keep wearing that mask indoors says Governor Jay Inslee. The Washington State indoor mask mandate continues after the governor on Wednesday failed to announce an end to the rule. Inslee told reporters on Wednesday he wants to look at more information from the state before announcing a date to end the mandate.

The governor says he'll announce a date to end the mandate next week

He expects to share the date next week but in the meantime Washington residents are supposed to mask up when indoors. However many people have decided not to pay attention to the mask mandate and are now longer wearing masks.
During his Wednesday press conference the governor says elective surgeries can resume February 18 after being halted during the pandemic. That's also the same day the state mask mandate for large events will be lifted. The state of Washington is one of only a small number of states that still have a mask mandate in place and the only state on the West Coast.

The governor didn't say anything about school masking policies

The governor didn't say a thing about masks in schools but Chris Reykdal, the state's superintendent of public instruction says he believes now is the time to "eliminate the statewide masking requirement for students and allow for a decision by local health officials."
Yakima County Commissioner Amanda McKinney says she's upset the governor didn't talk about masks in schools. She's hoping to put pressure on the governor's office to get him to address the issue.
