How Much Are You Spending On School Supplies This Year?
The Yakima School District has not released the 2018-19 school supplies list yet, but if it's anything like last year's list, you might end up spending a good chunk of change to get everything on that list plus backpacks and new school clothes and shoes! Oy!
Last year, I think I spent over $30 on school supplies for my then first-grade daughter, Willow. I originally had a budget of about $50, but wisely, I learned a couple of years ago to head to the dollar store to save some money for going back to school!
As someone who hadn't purchased elementary school supplies since the '90's, I recall feeling all sorts of stressed out as I waited in line to get free school supplies from the generous community members of Elks Lodge #318 when my child entered kindergarten in 2015! I breathed a huge sigh of relief in gratitude for their help! As a single parent, I found out firsthand just how spendy buying school supplies can get, and I can only imagine how difficult it must be on the pocketbook if you have more than one child in school!
I am sharing this year's event with you today, hoping that you will, in turn, share this info with a parent or family member you know who may be having a hard time financially right now. This event is perfect for someone who may need some help getting the needed school supplies for their child.
Sharing is caring! Thank you, Elks Lodge #318!
