Nearly 60 Safeway Stores in Washington Will Change Ownership

A lawsuit from the Washington State Attorney General is part of the decision for Alberstons and Krogers to finalize their company merger. (See the lawsuit here.)

I still miss the Albertsons grocery store that I used to stop by to grab groceries on my way home from work. When Albertsons had a merger with Safeway, the powers that be sold off that location.

When Albertsons merged with Safeway, they changed some of their Albertsons stores into Safeway stores. This grocery shakeup happened a few years back and I was faced with a new dilemma: I had to pick out a new "favorite" grocery store. (I ended up choosing Safeway.)

*FUN FACT: There is no apostrophe in Albertsons.

There are nearly 60 Safeway stores set to transfer to a new owner in Washington state. C & S Wholesale Grocers are set to become the new owners of these grocery locations. This will introduce their portfolio of stores to the Washington state market.
