I think I just found the newest, hardest-hitting, most entertaining, possibly dumbest and most dangerous sport that I’ve seen in a long time, and I think it could be BIG in Washington. Have you heard of the sport called “Run It Straight”?

A Game Of Extreme ‘Chicken’?

A pretty simple game. Two people start on opposite sides (of a room or a track), and when the ref or host yells out “Run It”, the two athletes run towards each other to collide as fast and as hard as they can. One of the guys is holding a ball, and the other is trying to block him. The winner is the one still standing.

It is a little more complicated than that, with a point system and rounds, but considering there’s a sport for what my friends and I used to do for fun in 6th grade. I’m down!

Where Did Run It Straight Start Running?

According to the BBC, the collision sport started out as a backyard game in Australia and New Zealand, especially in rugby communities.

And like most backyard fun, no pads, no helmets, just brute strength, questionable decisions, fun, pain, and memories were made!

It is worth noting that since the popularity of Run it Straight, competitors are now regularly using mouth guards, so that’s something.

Should Washington start its own Run It Straight League? (It would go pretty good with Jugger). Would you watch it? Would you participate in it? Would you channel your inner ‘extreme Sumo wrestler’ for battle? Tap the App and let us know what you think.
