Rumor Control: Is Jersey Mikes Getting a New Location in Yakima?

Locals are buzzing that a possible new location is coming to West Valley. It's time for some rumor control, so here's what we know.

Rumor Control: Is Jersey Mike's Getting a Location in Yakima?

When asked today, an employee at the Jersey Mike's Subs location in Union Gap did mention that there is a new franchise location that will be opening up in Yakima in the future and the employee says the new location will be located in West Valley near Rosauers grocery store. No opening date for a new restaurant was confirmed by the employee, so we did a little digging.

Jersey Mike's first location in Union Gap opened in 2024 to the delight of many excited foodies who had been traveling to Tri-Cities to eat their famous subs. I tried the #7 (Turkey sub) and it was full of zest and flavor. Customer's like to order it "Mike's Way" by getting all of the fixings, including pickles, oil and vinegar, and extra toppings.

Digging into the "Meat" of the Research to Find Out If the Rumor Is True

In order to confirm a new business is opening somewhere in the Yakima, you can confirm with management, request a public records request for a site building permit from the City of Yakima, or look up the business license filed with the State.

We checked the Washington State Business License Lookup using the business name Jersey Mikes Subs and did not see any pending license applications. The only one that appeared is the current Union Gap location (the property at 2401 S 1st St is managed by Valley Mall).

Looking for More Clues

I felt like the Scooby Doo Gang looking for more clues about maybe a Jersey Mike's opening in The Orchards shopping plaza (420 S 72nd Ave) since that is where Rosaurer's is located.

While scouring the lot for empty business suites, the only one I saw was the former location for Westend Salon in Suite 104. Could this be where the new Jersey Mikes might be going?, I wondered.

The property management website does not list any available spaces for new businesses, however the salon was confirmed as permanently closed when we checked the Washington State Department of Revenue's website.

So Is the Rumor True or What?

Although it appears that a new Jersey Mike's location coming to Yakima is just a rumor for now and has not been confirmed by Jersey Mike's management at this time, we will continue to do some further research in this developing story. It is possible that the alleged new Jersey Mike's Subs franchise owner filed under a different business name (an LLC or Sole Proprietorship) with the WA Department of Revenue.
