New Bill Calls for a 2-Cent Tax On Single-Use Plastic Bags
A new bill being introduced in Olympia is looking for a new 2-cent tax on single-use plastic bags.
It means that for every single plastic bag you use, you'd be charged 2 cents per bag.
The goal is to limit the use of plastic bags throughout the state. Currently 19 cities throughout Washington have some form of ban on plastic bags.
Lawmakers tried to pass a similar bill last year, but it failed. The new bill is slated for the 2019 legislative session.
