Tales From the Scale: Food for Thought
Real talk. I still am struggling to get back on track. I didn't even do a tale last week and wasn't sure I was going to share this week's new weight but **** it. I weigh 199. I needed a pep talk from the hubs as a reminder that I am wonderful at any size. We can't let our weight define us, but it wouldn't be right for me not to share the good days and the bad. That's life.
Moving forward, because these tales have been going for over a year now, I feel it's time to switch it up a bit. I will be sharing more of the foods that I enjoy and I would LOVE for you to do the same. We all have to eat, so we might as well share our favorite snacks to keep us full, breakfasts to kick off our days and treats that keep a smile on our faces.
I know a lot of my extra calories have come from coffee. I have been enjoying fancy ones and got on this kick of asking for half and half instead of milk (I am not doing keto), so this was a really bad idea. But the taste was dynamite. No more.
I won't cut off coffee and I am not going to switch to fake sugars, but I can switch to getting coffee creamer and see how that goes. It SHOULD be fewer calories in the end.
Breakfast is also becoming a struggle. I was eating eggs, cereal, a doughnut or nada. Boo. So I picked up a few items I always enjoy, like breakfast sandwiches with and without the bread. It's super important to have variety, so these are two I have purchased multiple times and they always leave me satisfied.
Snack-wise I have been enjoying a mixture of carrots, celery, cucumbers, cheese, hummus and crackers, so I will stick with that until I run out.
Lunch, I went with microwaveable dishes. I LOVE two power bowls -- the Korean one and also the Cuban one. Just the right amount of flavor without the oily calories of fried food. Again, both bomb and always keep me feeling satisfied.
So that's where I am at these days. I bring stuff to go to the gym and then talk myself out of it, but I know it's time. The motivation is real and I do have some exciting things coming up where you could join me.
Also the Downtown Mile is coming back Saturday, June 13, so the thought was to start seeing where I am at with a mile and doing that a few times a week to improve my time. I am not racing, but I can sure motivate from the sidelines. Anything to get the blood flowing right?
